उससे मिलता तो सारा जहां है

सब पे खुलता मगर वो कहां है!

कुछ तो है जो हैं खामोश वरना

हम पे अहवाल* सारा अयाँ है

है रिहाई नहीं मौत से भी

एक क़लन्दर का ऐसा बयां है

अहद ओ पैमां भी रख वह नज़र में

जो कि मेरे, तेरे दरम्यां है

मेरे दामन पे है जो ये धब्बा

भेद खुलता नहीं ज़िंदगी का

हर एक लम्हा तुम अपने ज़हन की खिड़की खुली रखना 

बहुत सफ्फाक दुनिया है, हर एक पल चौकसी रखना 

बहुत शातिर है वह, गुस्सा दिला कर ज़ेर* करता है 

जब उससे बात करना, तुम दलाएल वाजिबी रखना 

ज़िहानत का पता तो बात करने से ही चलता है

फिर इस मज़ाक़ को जम्हूरियत* का नाम दिया

हमें डराने लगे वो हमारी ताक़त से

Nomaan Shauq

NOTE: Syed Mohammad Nomaan who is known as Nomaan Shauq in literary world, was born on July 2, 1965 in Ara, Bihar. The author, whose poetry is heard with rapt attention, has several collections of poetry to his name.

The collections include 'Jalta Shikaara Dhoondhne Mein', 'Ajnabi Saa'ato.n ke Darmiyaa.n' and 'Freezer Mein Rakhi Shaam'. His couplets are widely quoted and his books, collections have been published in Hindi [Devnagri script] also.
