Fani Badauni* [pronunciation Faani] was born in Badaun town in Uttar Pradesh in 1879. He is among the legends of Urdu poetry.

ज़िंदगी जब्र है और जब्र के आसार नहीं 

हाय इस क़ैद को ज़ंजीर भी दरकार नहीं 

बे-अदब गिरया-ए-महरूमी-ए-दीदार नहीं 

वरना कुछ दर के सिवा हासिल-ए-दीवार नहीं  

आसमाँ भी तिरे कूचे की ज़मीं है लेकिन 

वो ज़मीं जिस पे तेरा साया-ए-दीवार नहीं

हाए दुनिया वो तिरी सुरमा-तक़ाज़ा आँखें

Khwaja Haider Ali 'Aatish' Lakhnawi is one of the giants of Urdu literature who was born in 1778.

Aatish and Imam Bakhsh Nasikh were contemporary poets whose rivalry is well-known. Both had hundreds of disciples.
The era of Aatish-Nasikh was a golden era for Urdu poetry in Lucknow. Aatish passed away in 1848. Read his ghazal:

ये आरज़ू थी तुझे गुल के रूबरू करते
हम और बुलबुल-ए-बेताब गुफ़्तगू करते

पयामबर न मयस्सर हुआ तो ख़ूब हुआ

मेरी तरह से मह-ओ-महर* भी हैं आवारा
किसी हबीब की ये भी हैं जुस्त्जू करते

Renowned Urdu poet, philosopher and thinker Sir Muhammad Iqbal was born in Sialkot in Punjab in undivided India [now Pakistan] in 1877.

One of the greatest Urdu poets ever, his name is taken alongside the great Mir Taqi Mir and Ghalib. Allama Iqbal is known for his Nazms and particularly the famous 'Shikwa & Jawab-e-Shikwa'. He passed away in 1938.

जब इश्क सिखाता है आदाब-ए-ख़ुद-आगाही* 
खुलते हैं ग़ुलामों पर असरार-ए-शहंशाही 

अत्तार** हो, 'रूमी' हो, राज़ी हो, 'ग़ज़ाली'  हो

NOTE: Urdu literature has a tradition of writers' penning odes or verses on special occasions or for the cities, places they are in love, with. It is a similar effort. 

A poem for Bhopal, the city that has a unique history--known as City of Begums, as well as City of Lakes, which is seen as a place of empowerment for women, as four women ruled the princely state for over a century. Despite growing communalism, the poet yearns for harmony and idealism. This has to be seen in the context.

شمس الرحمٰن علوی کی یہ نظم، اپنے شہر، بھوپال اور اس کی تہزیب، تمدن، قدرتی خوبصورتی کی تعریف میں لکھی گئ ہے۔بھوپال وہ شہر ہے جسے ادب کا مرکز اور تہذیب کا گہوارہ ہنوے کے ساتھ ساتھ تاریخ میں بہت اہم مقام حاصل ہے۔ یہاں بیگمات نے ایک صدی سے زائد عرصے تک حکمرانی کی۔ یہاں قدرتی مناظر، مشہور تالاب اور پہاڈیوں کے علاوہ اردو کا ایک مخصوس لب و لہجہ ہے، جسکے لئے بھی یہ شیر جانا جاتا ہے۔

*Especially, when communities or marginalized groups face atrocities and often agencies that are supposed to take action, turn Nelson's eye, apart from allowing the mobs to go after the victims. 

The message is that oppressors have come earlier too and gone, it may take time but human resilience and fight for ideals and justice continues. Context--recent incidents, right-wing groups rallies, attacks, vandalism and then laws applied selectively, seizure of properties and razing the structures.
