Tumhaare daur mein

Gharibo.n ke saron se chhatein chheen li gayee.n

Balwaaiyon ko ijazat mili sab kuchh looTne ki...

Aur mazloomo.n ke mohalle ujaaDe gaye

Patthar kahiiN se aaye

Sirf naam aur ilzam par faisle hone lage

Sach to ye hai ki

Tumhaari zaban par adl ka lafz achcha nahi lagta

Zulm ko bhi pahna diya hai tumne qanun ka ghilaf

شمس الرحمٰن علوی کی یہ نظم، جبر اور استبداد کے خلاف ایک آواز ہے۔ یہ فاشزم اور قانون کے غلط استعمال اور غریبوں پر مظالم، خاص طور پر مسلمانوں پر غلط قوانین اور سخت ایکشن کے متعدد واقعات رونما ہو نے کے رد عمل کے طور پر لکھی گئ ہے۔

Context: जब क़ानून ही इसी तरह बनाये जाएँ कि वह ज़ुल्म को जस्टिफाय करने लगें और विक्टिम के खिलाफ हों. जब हथियार बंद लोग रैलियां निकालें, क़ानून तोड़ें, हमले करें, और उन पर कार्रवाई के बजाये विक्टिम पर इलज़ाम लगें और उनके ही घर तोड़े जाएँ, जब क़ानूनों का इस्तेमाल नाम देख कर हो, जब लव जिहाद जैसा क़ानून बने, जब महज़ पत्थर फेंकने के 'इलज़ाम' पर, बगैर तस्दीक ही, उम्र क़ैद की बात वज़ीर आला करे, तब....

Context: When armed men take out rallies violating norms, vandalize, attack but victims are blamed, booked Without probe anyone termed guilty & house razed. When names matter, laws brought to oppress, from Love Jihad to proposing lifer for stone pelting...

Poetry against Oppression, Injustice and Violence: Urdu nazm on fight for ideals and hope against despots

हम सिर्फ दीवार-ओ-दर तक नहीं महदूद  

सरज़मीन ए भोपाल से दयार ए मालवा 

ग्वालियर ओ चम्बल, ताप्ती ओ नर्बदा 

हर जगह हैं हमारे नक़्श मौजूद 

तुम पहले हाकिम नहीं...यहां 

तुमसे पहले भी इस ज़मीं पर 

देखे हैं हमने कई नमरूद 

कोई बशर इस गुमां में न रहे 

कि उसके बस में है 

मिटा देना दूसरों का वुजूद

*Especially, when communities or marginalized groups face atrocities and often agencies that are supposed to take action, turn Nelson's eye, apart from allowing the mobs to go after the victims. 

The message is that oppressors have come earlier too and gone, it may take time but human resilience and fight for ideals and justice continues. Context--recent incidents, right-wing groups rallies, attacks, vandalism and then laws applied selectively, seizure of properties and razing the structures.

شمس الر حمٰن کی یہ نظم مخصوص حالات میں ظلم اور استحصال کے خلاف لکھی گئ ہے۔ جس  دور میں مسلسل ایسے واقعات ہو رہے ہوں کہ ایک قوم کو اور اسکے افراد کو دائیں بازو کی شدت پسند تنظیموں کے حملے برداشت کرنا پڑ رہے ہوں اور سرکار بھی چشم پوشی اختیار کرے، بلکہ اقلیت کے جان و مال کی حفاظت کا معاملہ اس قدر بگڑ جائے کہ سخت قانون کا استعمال کر مظلوم کو ہی نشانہ بنا دیا جائے، یہ اس تناظر میں لکھی ایک نثری نظم ہے۔
