Ham tumhein kya batayein hamne kya kya dekha hai: Shams Ur Rehman Alavi's poetry on Babri Masjid demolition

 

This verse brings to fore the poet's feelings about Babri Masjid demolition, sense of injustice, loss of hope and death of dreams. Shams Ur Rehman Alavi is a Bhopal-based poet.

एक सरसब्ज़ धरती थी 
जहां हमने साल दर साल 
नफरत के सहरा को फूटते देखा है 
इन्साफ, हक़, आदर्श की बातें थीं 
फिर ये सब कुछ पीछे छूटते देखा है 
शोहदों* को आईन की आबरू लूटते देखा है 
और हमने इन्ही आँखों से गुम्बदों को टूटते देखा है 
हर ख्वाब, हर उम्मीद को मरते देखा है 
हम तुम्हें क्या बताएं, हमने क्या क्या देखा है!

Ek sarsabz dharti thi
Jahaa.n hamne saal dar saal 
Nafrat ke sahra ko phooT-te dekha hai
Insaaf, haq, aadarsh ki baatein thii.n
Phir ye sab kuchh pichhe chhooT-te dekha hai
Shohdo.n ko aaeen ki aabru looT-te dekha hai
Aur hamne inhi aankho.n se gumabdo.n ko TooT-te dekha hai..
Har kh(w)aab, har ummid ko marte dekha hai 
Ham tumhei.n kya bataae.n hamne kya kya dekha hai
